I'm a Mean ol' Lion!

Quinn participated in her end of the year dance recital this weekend! I have to say she did a fantastic job up there on the stage! We were rolling in our seats as she came out in character and really gave it her all up on stage. She has already announced that she will be dancing at least 4 more years because she heard on Sunday that if you dance for 6 years you don't just get a medal, you get a trophy!

My son, the Optimist

Owen was recently honored with an award as, Student of the Month, from Monroe Elementary School! Two students were chosen by the 6th grade teachers and principal of Monroe, and Owen, along with another student was chosen to receive the award! The Noon Optimist club presented him with a plaque at a lunch presentation at the Rahr West Museum. He had to give a little speech about himself, his current pass times, hopes and aspirations for his future. Needless to say, his father and I are very proud! Way to go, Owen!

Instant catch-up

The following is a summation of what has happened to us in the last 5 months. I am taking this route because I a)finally have a moment to catch this blog up and b)the desire to do it!

Here we go:
1) I still haven't finished the chair...unfortunately it is comprised of 3 layers of other peoples decor and therefore also 3 layers of their dirt! As I began to pull off the first layer and discover the second layer (with just as many staples!), I also encountered a huge poof of dirt and dust which instantly turned me off and returned the chair to it's place in the basement...where it awaits a day in the warm sun OUTSIDE where the rest of the dust can float away on the breeze. I will try to keep you posted as to how it turns out!

2) We have celebrated 3 of our 5 birthdays! (James' is this weekend!) Owen and I celebrated out birthdays this March. Owen turned 12, and if you don't know how old I am, guess young please!

Gavin turned 10 years old in April, and for his birthday we were on vacation in Wisconsin Dells! James had a newspaper conference at Chula Vista, so the kids and I spent 2 days in the indoor waterpark while James attended seminars! We got put up in a lovely room with a full kitchen where we took advantage of everything, including the dishwasher!



3)Soccer season has begun! (as has baseball...) Fortunately for us the boys were both able to play on the same U12 team this year. Gavin is playing up from where he should be for his age, and I must say, he holds his own! They are 3-1 and having a lot of fun doing it! Owen has focused mainly on goalkeeping and Gavin fills in mainly as offense.

4) My dreams are coming true this year and we are putting in our new windows! All of my pleading finally has paid off and the original windows that have been painted closed since we moved in are being replaced with windows that will actually open! Now if the weather would only cooperate...we could install them!
The rest is all blah blah everyday stuff. Looking forward to warmer weather, the end of school, some family vacations and a great summer!
